La Rampe-la Ponatière, dance and music centre – artistic residency 2004/2011

Artistic residency from 2004 to 2011 at La Rampe-la Ponatière, a dance and music venue in Échirolles.

This residency is one of the first of its kind in France. It is perhaps the first time that a major cultural facility has welcomed a hip hop artist for such a long period.

Thanks to the confidence of Eliane Baracetti, then director of La Rampe, and her teams, this residency was a formidable laboratory that enabled Bouba and Compagnie Malka to establish and refine their approach, based on a strong artistic continuity.

Several choreographic works have been created at La Rampe, including Malandragem and Des Mots in 2005, Regarde-moi in 2007, Mei lua in 2009 and Murmures in 2010 with the support of the Théâtre National de Chaillot.

Numerous artistic and cultural education (EAC) projects and participatory creations have been conceived and designed in Echirolles. These include OCNI (Objets Chorégraphiques Nouvellement Imaginés), BAC (Brigades d’Actions Chorégraphiques) and Classes qui dansent.

The partnership with La Rampe and the town of Echirolles has given wings to the choreographer’s projects, enabling him to take his time and work in the best possible conditions.
