Barulhos

Piece for 6 dancers - Created in 2022

In Portuguese, the word ‘barulhos’ evokes the noises of everyday life. Bouba Landrille Tchouda converts this din of sound into a danced plea for the persistence of our times.

If the little auditory nothings carpet the rumours of the world, their silence is worrying and suggests isolation, even confinement. This creation by the Malka company captures the energy of these fragments and vibrations in an immersive sound system. The movement of the six performers, somewhere between hip hop and contemporary dance, resonates like a call to community.

It’s a sensitive, engaging work that helps to rebuild social links and rediscover others.
